So, here are a few habits that you can implement in your daily life, that will surely help you in lifting up your mood by releasing those happy hormones in your body.

Practice Mindfulness: But you need to remember that you have to take out those important moments to just pause for a few moments and just breathe in some good air. When your child is asleep and you have just those few moments to relax, we suggest you sit in a comfortable position, with your back fairly straight, and just take a few deep breaths. Close your eyes, keep breathing, and let your thoughts flow. When your open them, we guarantee that you’ll feel refreshed than ever.


Exercise: So as we said before, raising a child can get exhausting, especially at the early stages. But you really need to fit in some time to exercise at least 4 times a week. Exercising triggers the release of tryptophan into your blood. It can also decrease the amount of other amino acids. Aerobic exercises are the best to make you feel instantly better. Try dancing, swimming, jogging, or brisk walking, which will help keep your serotonin levels intact.


Massage: Needless to say, this is the best way to relax and release all the stress you have gathered up in your body while raising a child. Of course, you don’t need to get a massage daily or weekly, but getting a deep-tissue massage once a month or when you’re feeling really stiff due to all the work you’re putting in, will help a lot.


Let the light in! : Research suggests that serotonin tends to be lower in winters and higher in summers and fall. Spending time in the sunshine appears to help increase serotonin levels, and exploring this idea suggests your skin may be able to synthesize serotonin. To maximize the potential benefits of the sunlight you must spend 10-15 minutes in the sun or take your physical activity outside. Also, don’t forget to put on your sunscreen!


Healthy snacking: You might have noticed that people or sometimes we ourselves tend to eat a lot of sweets or carbohydrates when we’re feeling low or unhappy. You can’t directly get serotonin from food though, but you can get tryptophan, an amino acid that’s converted to serotonin in your brain. Tryptophan is found primarily in high-protein foods, which include nuts, whole wheat bread, cheese, oatmeal, brown rice, fruits, milk, and more such healthy food items. So, you must include such protein-rich dietary supplements in your daily food habits.


Make a weekly planner: Sometimes humans tend to fit in all of the above habits in the mere time of 17 functional hours of the day if we exclude the 7 hours of sleep (which is another important aspect of releasing serotonins). So, instead of trying to fit in all the healthy habits like eating healthy, meditation, exercising, along with taking care of your new-born in just one day; we suggest you fit in all these activities in a week. When you miss out on a few things that you’ve planned in a day, it can negatively affect your mood, which results in lowering of your serotonin levels. Hence, weekly plans can turn out as a boon.


Mood induction: Too little serotonin can negatively impact your mood, but could a good mood could help increase serotonin levels? The answer is yes! Thinking about something that makes you feel good can help promote an improved mood in general. You can try visualizing a happy moment from your memory or talking to your close friends when you’re feeling low or angry can make you happy and increase your serotonin levels effectively.
